Religion vs. Kingdom

Are you aware Jesus never came to introduce a new religion? I would dare to challenge you reflect that nor God, Jesus or the Holy Spirit are religious., as a matter of fact, they are not even Christian.

Instead we know Jesus himself states “I must preach the good news of the kingdom of God to the other towns as well; for I was sent for this purpose.” – Luke 4

If we go back to Genesis we see that God was not religious. Why do I say so? Well, when he had created man, he said he was pleased! What? Pleased with man? Without any religious sacrifice, or why not, any priest, any choir, any pulpit, any songs etc. please note that all that came as a result of the curse.

Jesus put it like this talking of God Father

“You have neither desired nor taken pleasure in sacrifices and offerings and burnt offerings and sin offerings” (these are offered according to the law),” Hebrews‬ ‭10:8‬ ‭ESV‬‬

All religions are similar to each other in the sense they are all trying to give answer to the questions of power and meaning. They all promise to explain life and death and to control  life and circumstances. They all also try to separate humans from each other, in form of OK and not OK, or sacral/ secular if you so want. Religion has proven to be not a unifier of man-kind but instead a divider.

Again we need to go back to Genesis 1:26Then God said “Let us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness; let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over the cattle, over all earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on earth”.

The hebrew word for dominion here translates “mamlakah” that can be translated Kingdom or royal power.

So the first thing God is giving man, is not a religion but a Kingdom to rule over.

If we read the bible without our historic Church preferences, we understand that the message of the bible is about a Kingdom and its King. And how this Kingdom through mankind are to rule earth from heaven.

19 I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven, and whatever you bind on earth shall be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.” – Matthew 16

Often we have applied this to be only in the Church, but Jesus is talking about his Kingdom, that Church shall live and expand.

Religion is what man does until he finds the Kingdom.

Islam, Hinduism, Buddism and even Christianity is not the answer to a dying world, the gospel of the Kingdom is.

Why the world still has not changed is, what I believe, that we have not fully understood the message of the Kingdom.

  1. Yes, THIS gospel shall be preached to all the earth– the gospel of the kingdom.

However, I believe Paul preached Jesus and not the kingdom and also church structure and morality. I believe all these are certainly elements/aspects within the kingdom gospel, but not the same as the kingdom gospel.

The gospel of Jesus concludes in “Christ and Him crucified.” The gospel of the kingdom is the PURPOSE of Christ and Him crucified. That purpose to redeem and restore THAT which was lost in the Garden: Humankind in God’s image having dominion (Thy kingdom come Thy will be done on earth AS IT IS IN HEAVEN.)

Anyway, I celebrate your kingdom teaching. I agree that THIS is the gospel that is confirmed with signs and wonders following (healing of nations in every area of culture, and of the Creston itself.) I get excited about kingdom preaching. Thank you!
